Custom Wheels for a Stationary Air Compressor

For this project, we modified a stationary air compressor by fabricating and installing a custom wheel system to make it fully portable. The client needed an easier way to move the compressor around the shop and job sites, as its original design was too heavy and cumbersome to transport.

We began by building a reinforced steel frame that securely cradles the compressor’s base without interfering with its stability or operation. Heavy-duty steel brackets were custom-cut and welded to support the axle mounts, ensuring proper balance and weight distribution. A pair of durable, shop-grade wheels were then installed on the rear, paired with a sturdy front support or swivel casters—depending on the client’s preferred mobility setup.

All welds were completed with full penetration for long-term strength and reliability. The metal was cleaned and finished with a protective coating to withstand shop environments, vibration, and regular handling.

The finished modification transformed the compressor into a portable, easy-to-maneuver unit that improves workflow and reduces lifting strain. This project showcases our ability to customize existing equipment to enhance functionality and everyday convenience.
